Drive from Queenstown to Te Anau

Making our way to Fiordland, we had a travel day from Queenstown to Te Anau. We started with an early lunch at Gibbston Valley. Cheese, cheese, cheese.

If you like cheese, this is the best lunch.

After that, it was a leisurely road trip along the opposite side of Lake Wakatipu from the Glenorchy Road.

The lake views were just as lovely.

As we pulled away from the lake, the landscape begin to change. Different mountain chains stretched out around us.

We arrived in Te Anau, our basecamp for the Fiordland segment of our trip. Te Anau is a tiny town on a lake. We got a bite to eat and wandered around, finding a chapel with glass walls.

This would be a beautiful place to get married.

Like the rest of NZ, Te Anau is windy. Choppy waters at sunset.
